Twelve Days of Dance Base: Our Volunteers

Nicola Kenny

On this final Day of Dance Base, we’d like to celebrate the people who made all the others possible – you!

Our supporters and attendees help us every day, and we’re so grateful that they do. Hopefully we do a good job of recognising that throughout the year, but right now we’d like to make it extra obvious. Thank you!

We’d also like to extend a deep thanks to our volunteers who work with us, supporting us in our community programmes. Of course, we aren’t the only ones who recognise their contributions. This year two of our Dance for Parkinson’s volunteers were nominated in Scottish Power’s Foundation Awards as Charity Champions.

Kay and Jacqueline first attended DfP with their husbands, quickly becoming embedded in the community. As stated on the Scottish Power website, “Sadly, both Kay and Jacqueline’s partners passed away, however, both women decided that they wanted to give back to the community who gave them so much support and care by volunteering. As volunteers, they have become instrumental in the smooth running of classes and their vast knowledge and lived experience mean they can offer the best possible support to dancers who are living with Parkinson’s.”

Our volunteers are dedicated, hard working and caring, and we are honoured to have them as part of Dance Base. As we go into 2024 I’d like to offer a sincere thanks to every one who makes our work possible, all year round.

Help us keep this work going by sponsoring us.
