Your Call | Dance Film Commission
The Your Call commission focused on screendance and supported four artists to develop a new work. The £5000 commissions were awarded to Elaine Kordys, Frances Drewery, Hayley Earlam & Lucy Wild (Overdrive Dance Company) and Laura Cameron-Lewis. The projects brought together diverse communities from across the nation, sharing tales of how dance has changed the lives of elders, young dancers, marginalised groups, as well as the mystery and magic of the remote islands.

Now Here This | Performance Commission
Now Here This commissioned 6 live performance works by artists from across Scotland. Originally it was hoped that they would be presented to a live audience as a welcome back to the building but the second lockdown meant that the project pivoted to a series of filmed dance performances that took place across Dance Base and then shared online.
The selected artists were Bridie Gane, Lewis Normand, Shaper/Caper, Alan Greig, Ocean All Over and SALTYDOLLS.

LoveDanceScotland | Artist Commission
2020 marked the first round of LoveDanceScotland where Dance Base partnered with Tramway and Dundee Rep & Scottish Dance Theatre to provide two commissions of £35,000 for Scotland-based artists to develop a new work of scale that marked a step change in their practice.
The artists selected for the commission were Shotput who created Totentanz, a playful merging of dance, theatre and photography, and FRAN.K who developed a durational film installation Living in the Space Between.

Catalytic Conversations
While the Covid-19 pandemic forced many of us to stay at home, Dance Base responded by establishing a monthly series of artist conversations where a Scotland-based dance artist was invited to have a video call with a person of their choice, outside of the UK. The intention was to shift our focus outwards and look beyond the shores of Scotland to find inspiration, information kinship and more.
The sessions welcomed artists including Lucy Suggate & Steve Paxton, Matthew Hawkins & Rose English, Laura Fisher & Rafi Darrow, Luke Pell & Caroline Bowditch and Liz Lerman & Robbie Synge.
