Whacking dancers were also jazz dancers and their walks, spins, turns hold that influence. During this class, Lorna will cover some of these techniques. in this class.

Strike a pose...Created in the gay club and ballroom scenes of 1970s Los Angeles by People of Colour, this style is all about attitude and self expression, with stylistic arm movements, posing and striking with force ('whacking').

Join us in learning these elements together. These classes are open to all levels, whether you have never heard of this style/culture, or whether you are an experienced whacker, there will be adaptations and options available!

Meet the Teachers

Dorine Mwesiga

Dorine Mwesiga is an international performer, instructor and retreat leader. Originally Tanzanian, born and raised in France, living in the UK and having travelled over 25 countries, she is inspired by an array of cultures and speaks 4 languages. She performed and completed internationally with London Based The Archetype (Winner 2017, World of Dance UK). She also competes solo taking part in battles across the world. Winner Waack the World Thessaloniki 2022, Winner Disconnection Jam London 2021, International Breakin Convention 2023.
