Teacher: Jack Anderson
Born in the Italian Renaissance, Ballet took many turns across Europe (with some great leaps in France and Russia) before landing on the world's largest stages in its modern, athletic form. Ballet is characterised by its technical precision, elegance and captivating artistry. At Dance Base, our Ballet classes range from classical to modern, beginners to professional—but they are always inclusive. There is a space at the barre for everyone at Dance Base.
Using the framework of classical Ballet, this All Levels Vintage class will focus on breath, fullness and ease of movement. Specially designed for dancers over 60, we’ll ground into stability and grow into the expansive grace of the ballet vocabulary. Together we'll enjoy beautiful dancing, glorious music and great company. Time to breathe, to soften, to glide into the weekend.
Please wear ballet slippers or socks, and comfortable clothing you can move in. Don't forget a bottle of water!

As a performer, his work includes Éowyn Emerald & Dancers, Shotput, Company Chordelia, Rob Heaslip, Barrowland Ballet, Indepen-dance, 4, Niamh O'Loughlin and Ériu Dance Company.
His work as a teacher, facilitator or rehearsal director includes Dance Base as well as Scottish Ballet, Indepen-dance and Paragon Music.
At Dance Base, Jack’s ballet classes focus on opening classical technique to everyone - tuning in to an expansive physicality and enjoying moving together, without taking it all too seriously. Every body is welcome, and you can come just as you are - the only rule is to have a nice time!
Wear comfortable clothing, nothing too baggy, as your teacher needs to be able to see your posture, and wear soft ballet shoes.
You are not required to have dance uniform of leotard and tights, but you are welcome to wear them, if you wish.
Don’t forget your bottle of water.
