With roots in African, Irish and English dance traditions, Tap is a fun, rhythmic and percussive genre where dancers use shoes with steel plates on the toes and heels to tap rhythms on the floor.

Our Improvers course is for those who wish to enhance their tap skills and learn more advanced steps and rhythms in a relaxed and fun way. After a warm-up combination, the class will use a variety of music styles to work on these skills. Building a routine throughout the term. Then you can enjoy a gentle cool down.

Please wear comfortable clothing and tap shoes. Don’t forget to bring your bottle of water!

Meet the Teachers

Lindsey Cheyne

Lindsey started dancing at three years old with Highland Dancing and quickly became obsessed with dance.

She trained full-time at dance college, leading her to dance professionally for 15 years. She did various work, but in later years as dance captain for Peter Grey Terhune Presents, she became an associate choreographer for the production company. She taught many of their shows and installed their casts aboard Regents, Seven Seas Navigator, Mariner and Voyager.

Since retiring from the stage, Lindsey has enjoyed sharing her joy of dance with her students. She teaches Tap, RAD Ballet, Jazz, Highland and group fitness classes in various settings. She is still as devoted to dance after all these years.
