Introduction to Movement Notation with Jonathan Burnett
Sat 28 November 13:30-15:00
Ages 14+ | All Levels | £15

Ever wondered how to remember those sequences from one week to the next? This introduction to movement notations could be the answer to recording your dances.

In this workshop qualified instructor of Benesh Movement Notation, Jonathan Burnett will teach you the basic method of writing and reading steps and sequences with just paper and pencil - whatever your chosen style of dance or movement.

Benesh Movement Notation (BMN), also known as Benesh Notation or Choreology, is the literacy of body language, a dance and movement notation system used to document dance and other types of human movement. Invented by Joan and Rudolf Benesh in the late 1940s, the system uses abstract symbols based on figurative representations of the human body. It is used in choreography, physical therapy and in Ballet institutions worldwide, including the Royal Academy of Dance to teach Ballet.

All materials will be provided for the workshop, to be held in Dance Base's Meeting Room 1.
