Fusing the expressive beauty of Indian dance styles like Folk, Kathak and Bhangra with the flair of Hip Hop, Belly Dance and other styles, Bollywood dance is colourful, energetic, and full of life — because when it comes to Bollywood, there are no rules!

At Dance Base, our All Levels Bollywood course celebrates the diversity of Indian cinema, blending choreography, music and movement inspired not only by Bollywood but also by Kollywood, Tollywood and Mollywood — bringing you the full spectrum of Indian film dance magic. You will learn techniques from these various styles, steps and routines from your favourite movies and most importantly, have a lot of fun!

Please wear comfortable clothing and trainers. Don’t forget to bring your bottle of water!

This class will be participating in our annual Christmas show!

Meet the Teachers

Rajani Ravikumar

I am an enthusiastic dancer/choreographer from Chennai, India learning classical forms of dance from the age of 4. Having participated and won few reality dance shows back home, I realised I find more joy in teaching and sharing the love of dance with others. I have led a Bollywood dance group and performed alongside 60 dancers at the most prestigious “The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo”. I am passionate about promoting Indian dance and culture in Scotland.

Bollywood classes start with an introduction, warm-up and stretching exercises, followed by learning choreographies, incorporating footwork, hand gestures, facial expressions, and body movements.
Attending these classes can be a lot of fun, as you get to learn new skills, make new friends, and immerse yourself in the rich culture and music of India. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced dancer, there is always something new to learn and enjoy.

How to prepare

Wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Don’t forget to bring your bottle of water!

As we move into the colder months of our changeable Scottish weather, please wear layers to the class to keep sufficiently warm during, as we are still continuing to ensure ventilation in our studios.
