About the Class

Autumn Term 2026
Monday 13th September – Sunday 13th December
Age: 16+

Each week Dance Base offer classes for the professional dance community. These sessions are taught by a range of artists who are actively working in Scotland so that they can share their technique and approach with the professional sector.

This class will cater to the development of students and dancers working at Advanced - Professional Level. Under the guidance of industry teachers, this class combines both barre and centre practice to develop and sustain classical technique, artistry and discipline for a rounded practice.

Teachers:

16 September - 21 October with David Murley

Come join me while we sharpen and condition our classical ballet skills on Wednesdays this autumn. The ballet class is advanced/professional. A high command of ballet technique is required in order to execute the class safely. During the sessions we will also work on artistry and refinement. Looking forward to dancing with you!

28 October - 9 December with Madeline Squire

This Professional Ballet Class is an opportunity to refine your technique, build strength, and develop your artistry, while discovering who you are as a dancer and embracing your individuality as an artist.
We’ll begin at the barre, developing strength, control, and precision to prepare the body for centre work. From there, we’ll move into the centre and explore how to use the full body, travel through space, and bring expression to your movement, while discovering what dance means to you.
The class is designed to challenge and inspire you, while creating a space to have fun, improve on technique, enjoy the music, and embrace the freedom of movement.

For guidance, these classes would be comparable to practice of RAD, ISTD Advanced Foundation- Advanced 2 Level. Please note that this is a professional level technique class and it is therefore for those who are practising and/or working at a professional level. Classes are offered at a rate of £5.50 for those who are in dance training, or who are actively working in the dance sector at a professional level in areas of performing, making, teaching and/or choreographing.

If participants are practising at a professional level but not training or working in the dance sector we kindly ask that you support the programme by purchasing a standard class rate or subsidised Chance 2 Dance (see eligibility criteria).
