Yvonne McCombie is a professional dancer and teacher with approx. 24 years experience as a dancer and over 18 years as a dance teacher.
Working as an independent dance artist, physical theatre performer, choreographer & dance teacher, she specialises in Middle Eastern & North African dance forms, Contemporary dance, Creative Movement and Physical Theatre. Over the years she has worked extensively with a variety of community and arts groups including with groups focused on those with learning & physical disabilities, people with substance misuse problems & mental health issues, youth & children groups, women’s groups & asylum seekers.
She is the director of Nemesis Works – her own company where she works in collaboration with other performers to create physical theatre projects specialising in street, site-specific and community theatre and carnival arts. She is also the choreographer for The BellyBabies (her Bellydance students' performance group) as well as performing Oriental dance professionally as a soloist.
In 2015 she qualified as a Pilates teacher with Brigid McCarthy Pilates Studio. She continued her training with Brigid in 2016 and now holds qualifications in both Fundamental Matwork and Remedial Pilates. She has taught her own regular Pilates classes since she completed her training in 2015 as well as working one to one with clients and since 2016 she has been teaching Pilates at Dancebase.
Yvonne is also a trained Thai Yoga Massage practitioner and holds a Diploma in Thai Yoga Massage. She has continued to build on her professional development in that area with an Advanced Thai Yoga Massage certificate and Onsite Seated Acupressure training.
She is a member of IPTA (Independent Pilates Teacher Association), Dance UK, People Dancing and the CID (Conseil International de la Danse).
