Shades of History

Is it possible to deliver choreographic signatures through common denominators, such as jumping, standing, running and turning? How does the body of the performer deliver these signatures without the artistic context of the borrowed choreography?

Choreographer and dancer Katrín Gunnarsdóttir will look into her practice of borrowing and appropriating movement by exploring the idea of ‘the signature movement’. The signatures are obtained from choreographers who´s work she has borrowed from and incorporated into her own choreographies in the past 15 years. The research is a starting point for a new work titled Shades of History. A dialogue between a shared past and personal experience.
