RESIDENCY 4 - 15 JUNE
CARCASS / BODY
FOSTER GROUP / Sarah Foster-Sproull (NZ)

FOSTER GROUP's Artistic Director Sarah Foster-Sproull (Creative New Zealand's Choreographic Fellow 2017-2019) leads a collaborative residency with Tamsyn Russell (Edinburgh) where they explore how to become one another in 200 simple, complex, preposterous, and poetic ways. Using contemporary dance as their medium, Sarah and Tamsyn will explore what it might be like to 'stand inside the other person’s carcass', as a metaphor, expressed through movement and intricate hand-made props. Foster-Sproull’s choreographic work has recently been heralded as “breathtakingly beautiful, exquisitely executed” (Radio New Zealand, 2017), and “full of eros, pathos and humour…” (Pantograph Punch, 2017). Additonally, in this residency Foster-Sproull’s multi-talented husband Andrew Foster (NZ) will work alongside the team to construct original music and provide dramaturgical advice.
