What does the space know?

The Goethe-Institut Ramallah invites experts from Palestine and Germany to take part in discussions on the connection between cultural heritage and architecture. Subtleties of the Palestinian architecture-discourse are explored in these conversations and possible analogies drawn to German discourses. Also questions about the body and individuality in relation to space, architecture and cultural heritage are raised: How is our body connected to a space? And what happens, if this space vanishes? Will a part of the heritage disappear or is the loss a new heritage? The discussions are audio visually documented and transcribed. Choreographers Farah Saleh (PAL/UK) and Mirjam Sögner (DE/AT) will respond to the material in a collaborative performance.

Company Class | Tuesday 23 April | 10.00 – 11.30

The class offers movement scores dealing with the connection between space, memories and heritage. Derived from Farah Saleh’s and Mirjam Sögner’s current research on architectural heritage in Palestine and Germany, and the reverberations of its slow disappearance in the former. In this class we ask the question: how does the space know?

Company Showing | Friday 26 April | 16.00
