Residency 27 June – 1 July
Lady Macbeth: Unsex Me Here
This residency is the beginning of a process leading towards a new work created by Kally Lloyd-Jones. Solar Bear Theatre Company will be co-producers in this project.
2016 is the 400 year anniversary of Shakespeare’s death and this piece is about Lady Macbeth, the complexity and journey of her character and also about the actor inhabiting the role. As in Shakespeare’s time this role is played by a man.
In tandem with this, the piece involves making dance theatre with BSL (British Sign Language) as an embedded part of the choreography so that meaning through movement unites both a formal and an informal language which is not spoken. Having Shakespeare’s text as a reference provides a grounded place from which to begin.
Company Class: Tuesday 28 June 10.00 – 11.30
