Johanna Nuutinen's OPIA will premiere in the May 2020. OPIA explores the world behind the gaze through a virtuoso dance and surrealistic video art by diving into questions relating to looking and being looked at and how we form meaning from what we see.

In addition to Johanna Nuutinen, the artistic team includes among others visualist Joonas Tikkanen, sound designer Tuomas Norvio and performers Jenna Broas and Justus Pienmunne.

During our stay at Dance Base the team will develop the physical content of the production that will have its premiere in Helsinki in May 2020 at Zodiak - Center for New Dance.

Company Class | Thursdays 17 & 24 Oct | 10.00 – 11.30

The morning classes will start with awakening the energy flow with tai chi -based movement which brings the participants’ concentration on alignment, flow of energy and movement originating from the centre of the body in connection with the breath. From this calm and clear state we will continue strengthening the body from within by using improvisational tools which seduce us to awaken the delicacy of our own wild embodied imagination.

Company Showing | Friday 25 Oct | 17.00
