As a collective we’ll be researching the interplay of projected film, dance/movement, live music & sampled sound, including spoken words. We’ll be using improvisation as a vital component of explorations that involves both social & political comment about, and a meditation on/celebration of water - it’s beauty and power, current related environmental destruction, and violences to indigenous people’s land/water/communities.
We want to develop understandings of the relationship between different elements: What is it, for example, to move with/to/against film? What is it to dance with/to/against words; responding to both the sonic affect/pulse/pitch and the actual political/emotional content? The investigation will layer these elements & variables and examine them through structured scores.
