Kemono Lebe-Riot announced as PROSPECT Japan solo residency artist 2026

Eleanor Bally

We are happy to announce that Kemono Lebe-Riot is the recipient of the PROSPECT Japan solo residency.

A Glasgow-based dance artist with Congolese roots, Kemono is co-founder of THREE60, an arts company from the heart of Glasgow that specialises in Hip Hop culture, spanning from dance and music to fashion, DJing, and youth empowerment.

Kemono has been immersed in dance from a young age, transitioning from traditional Congolese dances to mastering street dance styles like Krump and Hip Hop. His professional career took off at 17, under the mentorship of Ron Bedeau and later competing at elite levels with Levent Nyembo’s crew, Goblynz. During the PROSPECT residency at Dance Base Yokohama, Kemono will take dedicated time to step away from production-led environments and focus deeply on developing his own artistic language through research.

PROSPECT is a new international dance residency programme, created by Dance Base Scotland and Dance Base Yokohama. PROSPECT positions one Scotland-based artist within the Japanese dance sector for an extended period, through undertaking four weeks of studio-based research at Dance Base Yokohama, followed by a week to connect, explore and network. Kemono’s residency will take place from September to November, 2026.
