Drawing on South Asian dance techniques, Kirsten Newell, Oxana Banshikova and Lera Grant will explore the connection between Celtic and Hindu mythology. Under the direction of world renowned Bharatanatyam artist Leela Samson and writer John Philip Newell, they will develop themes around Brigid, the Celtic goddess of earth and fire. Kirsten, Oxana and Lera want to build the bridge between East and West. They will tell a story that raises important issues about celebrating the earth and the gifts of nature and also celebrating our Celtic heritage. During their residency they will explore poems, prayers and Gaelic blessings through the storytelling and expressive form of Bharatanatyam.
