Prospect | Japan Solo Residency Call Out

Deadline: Friday 19 June, 11:00

PROSPECT is an international dance residency developed by Dance Base Scotland in partnership with Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY). This residency will position a Scotland-based artist within the Japanese dance sector for an extended period, through undertaking four weeks of studio-based research at the location of our partner, DaBY. This will be followed by up to six days of self-directed exploration of the Japanese dance sector, related support organisations, culture and country.

PROSPECT aims to provide an opportunity to deepen practice through studio-based research, have time to reflect, explore and forge new connections, meet foreign colleagues and widen artistic perspectives through undertaking research while encountering a new context. The selected artist will have the opportunity, with support from Dance Base Scotland and DaBY, to curate a self-directed programme of activity following the studio residency to explore a new territory, making connections and having conversations and experiences.

Through this, it is hoped PROSPECT supports practice, profile and professional network and capacity building for an individual artist through international engagement between Scottish and Japanese sectors.

The activity is scheduled for September – November 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional dance artist with an established dance practice based/living and working in Scotland.
