Shifting between landscape, creature and other, ‘Goldy-looking blanket’ is a cocoon – a safe space to explore metamorphosis and change, whilst remaining hidden and protected.
During the week at Dance Base, Julia will collaborate with digital artist and filmmaker Lucas Chih-Peng Kao to develop a soundscape and experiment with video projection in relation to live movement underneath and in contact with a large gold space blanket. This residency is part of a wider choreographic research project where Julia is collaborating with Lucas and dance artist Niamh O’Loughlin to investigate Goldy as a form of alter-ego through live indoor and outdoor performance, soundscape and film.

About Julia McGhee
I am an artist who lives and works in Inver, near Tain in Easter Ross. My interdisciplinary practice incorporates dance, movement, photography and filmmaking and I collaborate with artists who work across music, film, digital media and visual art to create live indoor and outdoor performance, digital and multi-media projects and community engagement events. I am interested in working with movement, the body, objects and materials that can reflect elements of the environment and people I see around me.
