Robbie Synge & PRIME | TEN

Robbie Synge & PRIME | TEN

Monday 12 – Friday 16 May

One two three four five six seven eight nine TEN.

We are doing a deep dive into this worthy number

because it is PRIME’s tenth birthday and not our ninth.

Or our eighth or seventh or sixth or fifth and

so this honest round number is as good a place

to start as any. A decade of doing and dancing

in Dance Base is a lot of doing and dancing

in Dance Base and we will not have much time

so we will try our best to create something fun.

It may be perfect but most likely will not be perfect.

Come and see where we’ve got to at the end of a busy week. We welcome your input to help us make the strongest version of the work we’d like to make. We’ll do this through a Critical Response Process. If you’ve not done this before, it could be interesting in itself. It is not as intimidating as it seems and does not need to be formulaic. For context, we’ll have been busy building a performance for the Fringe as part of a double or triple-bill. It is sure to be rough in parts, but our intention is to give a strong sense of it. We hope it’ll be light and intense, fun and serious, perfect and imperfect, precise and loose. Whatever it is, it’d be great to have some friendly feedback and, to be honest, there’s not a lot of time to change much about it anyway. It’s Friday afternoon and we’re chasing the fun, so let’s try and achieve that!

About Robbie Synge

Based in Strathspey, Robbie Synge is an artist and choreographer working physically and playfully to explore connections between human/non-human bodies, materials and landscapes. His main aim is to bring focus and value to embodied possibilities of being and doing. Originally studying human physiology and later pursuing dance practice, his practice tends to involve tactile or mechanical interactions and working with people of a broad range of backgrounds, demographics and abilities. His artist residency in partnership with land restoration organisation Cairngorms Connect (2020-22) has led to working part-time with the organisation, focusing on involving and increasing the agency of young people.
