MoonSlide | SOUP!

MoonSlide | SOUP!

Monday 28 April - Friday 2 May

MoonSlide makes work that puts accessibility at its heart and challenges perceptions of what performance can be.

They are committed to engaging marginalised groups and connecting disconnected communities through the non-verbal languages of movement, humour and humanity.

Their first creation Buff and Sheen was born out of a direct need to connect through live work during the deepest lockdown of 2020 and continues to tour Scotland and Europe.

In 2023 they began researching SOUP! inspired by the connective nature of collective cooking and eating, and the intergenerational integration which is such an important part of our lives.

SOUP! was inspired by the tastes and smells of the artists’ grandparents’ kitchens and a desire to bring people together through food. It’s about the importance of sensory memory and ancestral recipe legacy as much as it is about whimsy and creative freedom. It takes the form of a live, participatory performance where two dancing chefs entice the audience through clowning antics and nonsense language to get involved in uproarious and surreal kitchen mishaps.

Collaborators

MoonSlide is made up of Suzi Cunningham and Alex McCabe, in collaboration with Riccardo Olivier, Dylan Read, Daniel Padden, Fergus Dunnet, Gameli Tordzo, Kae Sakurai and Lewis Sherlock.

Sharing

With SOUP! now being in its final stages of creation, there will be no public sharing as part of this residency, however interested programmers and partners are invited to get in touch with the artists to arrange to attend a presentation.
