Monday 3-Friday 7 April
Following the success of End without Days, which premiered during the 2022 Fringe, choreographer Stephen Pelton and company member Edd Mitton return to Dance Base for this initial research and development residency for Super F**king Homo.
The artists will collaboratively explore what we gay men may have in common in addition to our sexual orientation? Who are we now? Is there a queer perspective? How has “gay liberation” actually liberated us and from what is it yet to liberate us?
We will use these sessions to explore writing & choreographic movement invention to begin creating the scenes and narrative for the piece. The diverging and intersecting of our experiences as gay men growing up post-Stonewall, yet more than a generation apart, will bring intrigue, dynamic, and, hopefully, fabulousness to our collaboration.
Is there a homo superpower?? Let’s find out…

Pelton’s technique classes move from Limon-based fundamentals to ballet placement exercises to yoga-inspired strengthening practices to combinations exploring Pelton’s own lyrical and idiosyncratic movement style. Each day’s movement material accumulates into a longer, final choreographic sequence that reinforces technical principles from earlier in class.
