Lewis Normand | Hallelujah Junction

Lewis Normand | Hallelujah Junction

Monday 16 - Friday 27 January

Lewis will use this residency to explore the beginnings of an ambitious new work for five dancers.

Titled ‘Hallelujah Junction’ after the composition by John Adams, Lewis and dancers will explore this intricate piece for two pianos. A recent research project into the compositional structures within the music (supported by the Athenaeum Award at RCS) will inform the creative process and approach. The music is in three movements, each with a distinct mood. The choreography aims to follow and build from the music’s structure and attempt to realise these distinct shifts in mood, exploring how dance can physicalise and enliven what is already described within the music.

Lead Artist: Lewis Normand

Dancers: Joanne Pirrie, Lewis Landini, Millie Thomas, Ellie Bishop, Ashlin Huck
