About Malcolm Sutherland

Born in Scotland, Malcolm completed his professional training at Central School of Ballet in London. After a year as an apprentice with Ballet Basel, Malcolm was hired as a member of Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballett where he performed in works from choreographers such as: Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Johan Inger and Crystal Pite among others. Malcolm has choreographed numerous works for stage, including three full- length productions for the Tafelhalle, Nürnberg. Further choreographic works include: Greed, Dance company of Theater St Gallen, Lost for Words, Resolution festival, Shelf Life, Interdans festival and Aftermath, Accademia Nazionale Di Danza. He has created work as a member of the Cohan Collective and on Magnetic North’s rough mix programme as well as completing his MA Choreography with distinction. Malcolm has also been a choreographic assistant/rehearsal director on projects in Berlin, Malaga and Luxembourg. His freelance performance experience includes working with: Klever Dance, Dance Theatre Luxembourg, Elisabeth Schilling, Focus Dance, Shang-Chi Sun, Kollektiv 52°07, Shaper/Caper, Rob Heaslip, Gwynne Bilski, Roisin O’Brien, Choreolab Ulm and Dumfries & Galloway Dance.
