Alan Greig | Within Reach

Alan Greig | Within Reach

Monday 25 September - Friday 6 October

Seminal Scottish Choreographer Alan Greig will spend two weeks at Dance Base developing his new work Within Reach.

Within Reach is a dynamic new solo show that plays with notions of gender, sexuality, age and time. Blending text, theatre, dance, and humour, Alan channels some of our greatest Queer Icons (Tennessee Williams, Quentin Crisp, Joan Crawford) in a part-autobiographical, part-act of wild fantasy and performance.

Who are we, who we have been, and who we might become?

With his choreography constantly evolving for his ageing body, Alan’s site responsive and adaptive collection of monologues will be skilfully woven with graceful moves and improvisation to create an abstract and compelling show of innovative, accessible dance.

‘Within reach’ will utilise new and unusual spaces in public buildings, literally placing both audience and performer ‘within reach.’
