SPACE/FRAME | Artist Residency
To celebrate the opening of the Fruitmarket Warehouse in April 2022 and the presentation of Pardes by Jyll Bradley, Fruitmarket and Dance Base collaborated to invite artist Laura Fisher to spend two weeks interacting with the installation and architecture of the space, and to share their response on the closing day of the installation.

Source | International Exchange
In 2021 Dance Base Scotland and Ecole des Sables Senegal announced their collaboration on a new and unique exchange project to celebrate African Contemporary practice through Germaine Acogny’s Technique. The project welcomed two Scottish and two Senegalese artists and in May 2022 the project culminated in a two-week residency in Senegal.

Hip-Hop Dance Artist Traineeship
In May 2022 Dance Base collaborated with MGC Futures Bursary to fund a 6 month hip-hop artist traineeship. Nadia Sewnauth joined us as the selected artist and through the traineeship she worked in residence at Dance Base to develop her work My Maw’s A Robot, spent time shadowing the team, attended two hip hop dance festivals, and presented her work to an audience as part of Open Art Surgery in October.

Precipitate | International Exchange
In 2022 Dance Base partnered with Lebanese socio-cultural enterprise Yaraqa to present a groundbreaking artistic exchange Lab that will connect dance artists from Scotland and Lebanon.

Open Art Surgery | Hip Hop Dance Showcase
In October 2022, Breakin’ Convention and Dance Base partnered together to offer four Scotland-based hip-hop dance artists the opportunity to take part in Breakin’ Convention’s unique Open Art Surgery.

Scratch Night | Live Performance
In November 2022 we held our first Scratch Night – an evening of work-in-progress performances showcasing bold new work by Eoin McKenzie, David Ronan, Sam Vaherlehto and Alexandra Tsiapi & Carmen Berbel Lapaz.
