Extremely Pedestrian Chorales Workshop with Karl Jay-Lewin

Friday 3rd April | 12:00 – 16:00 | Free

Free professional level workshop for dancers, composers, musicians

Choreographer and performer Karl Jay-Lewin will lead an experiential workshop on the compositional concepts and movement material of Extremely Pedestrian Chorales (by Karl Jay-Lewin & Matteo Fargion). The work - 36 complex short dances, paradoxically made of extremely simple, predominantly pedestrian movements - is rhythmically and spatially structured around translations of the sublime harmonies of JS Bach's famous four-part Chorales.

Working from the strict structure and dictates of choreographic scores, there is room for personality and subtle relationships between the dancers to shine through, where a look, smile or spontaneous gesture may fill the stage with fleeting meaning.

The workshop is not an audition however it is a chance for potential future performers to connect with the work.

Extremely Pedestrian Chorales is currently on tour and will be performed at Summerhall on 8th April at 19.30. Tickets £12/£10 www.summerhall.co.uk
