Call Out for Dancers for Performing for the Camera Workshop with Maria Falconer
Sunday 19 May | 9.30 - 17.30

We are looking for dancers aged 18 or over that would like to get involved with our workshop. It doesn't matter if you are studying dance or already on your professional journey, you will learn a huge amount about dance photography.

Over the course of the day, you will collaborate with experienced photographers both out on location and in the theatre.

Not only will you have the opportunity to make a range of spectacular images that you can use in your portfolio, but you will also learn an enormous amount about what makes a fabulous promotional image, and take away some top tips about lighting and costume.

What to expect:
The workshop will include presentations, demos and a series of technical and creative exercises around the following topics:

  • What is Dance Photography all about?
  • How to collaborate with a photographer
  • Working on location
  • Working in the theatre
  • Experimentation and creativity
  • Stage lighting and costume
  • Using the light to your advantage
  • How to create a sensational advertising shot
  • Who owns the images? Copyright and Licensing.

All of the best images made during the workshop will be available to dancers for personal and promotional use.

Who should apply:
If you are aged 18 or over, and a committed dancer with a professional attitude then we would love to have you on board. And although strong technique is wonderful, it's far from everything. It's more important that you are open to working with new people and not afraid of experimenting.

We welcome dancers from a range of ages and dance styles, but a contemporary background is important and the ability to improvise is essential. The workshop will be very active, and a good level of fitness will be required.
