ATTAKKALARI CENTRE, BANGALORE
Charlotte Jarvis | January / February 2015
We are thrilled to announce out first Indian dance exchange. Charlotte Jarvis is the Scottish dance artist at the FACETS Choreography residency (5 Jan - 5 Feb), part of the Attakkalari India Biennial (6 - 15 Feb), organised by Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts in Bangalore.
This internationally-renowned residency offers choreographers a four-week intensive programme that will allow for collaborations with mentors from across the world, along with production and financial support. The residents will also premiere their new work, developed during the residency, at a special showcase during the Biennial which follows FACETS.
Organised by Attakkalari every two years since 2000, the Attakkalari India Biennial has emerged as the largest and most important festival for contemporary dance and movement arts in South Asia and sees performance works from around 20 countries each edition.
Jaychandran Palazhy is the visionary Artistic Director who continues to encourage and nurture the Indian contemporary dance community. His work in India over two decades has been amazing, and he has driven forms of dance forward there with passion and sensitivity.
We are thrilled to be part of this journey and to complete the circle we will invite and Indian artist to Scotland later in the year. Find out more about where Charlotte will go and who the other participants are, by visiting attakkalari.org
