Alan Greig Dance Theatre

Alan Greig Dance Theatre

Alan Greig is an Edinburgh-based choreographer and teacher with over two decades of experience of creating dance for his company (formally X-Factor Dance Company).
Catalyst supported Alan’s presentation of Into the Light at the UK Pavilion at the 2010 Expo Event in Shanghai and has continued to support Alan’s collaborations with the Shanghai-based dance company Jin Xing Dance Theatre.
In 2013, Catalyst produced the dance theatre work Do You Nomi in collaboration with Glasgow-based performer and director, Grant Smeaton. Weaving together dialogue, dance and theatre it holds a spotlight on the life of Klaus Nomi and his rise to fame in the New York avant-garde scene of the 1970s and 80s.

'A show of extraordinary troubling vividness, featuring a beautiful, thought-provoking central performance from Drew Taylor as Nomi.' **** The Scotsman

Do You Nomi was funded by Creative Scotland and support by Dance Base (Edinburgh), Dance House (Glasgow) and Brunton (Musselburgh). We presented Do You Nomi as part of a tour of Scotland in 2013 sharing the work with audiences at The Tron Theatre (Glasgow), Brunton (Musselburgh), The Beacon Arts Centre (Greenock), The Lemon Tree (Aberdeen), Cumbernauld Theatre, An Lanntair (Stornoway) and Macphail Centre (Ullapool).
