About Lothian Youth Dance Company

Lothian Youth Dance Company offers talented dancers aged 14 to 19 from Edinburgh and the Lothians the opportunity to broaden their contemporary dance and performance experience as part of a nationally touring dance company.

LYDC meets one Sunday each month in Dance Base for day-long sessions where they develop their contemporary dance technique and creative dance skills, learn more about working together as a company and rehearse for upcoming performances.

The group also meet for several week-long intensives in April, July and October to create new choreography and work on other dance skills more intensively with different choreographers and dance tutors.

'At LYDC there is a high standard and it feels professional - however it's not scary or elitist.
It has helped me develop more confidence and improve my dancing in other styles too.
It is fun and I've made good friends.'
