Great Feats

Great Feats - 2016 or 17

Join Great Feats, a free group for young people (aged 16 -25 years) who are currently not in employment, education or training.

We meet on a Tuesday and Friday at Dance Base in the Grassmarket and you are welcome to come along.

Meeting times: Tuesdays & Fridays 12.00 – 15.00

As well as being part of a group, you get:

  • to try out all kinds of dance including hip hop, house, aerial, capoeira, contemporary and parkour
  • to join fun theatre trips and a chance to perform yourself, as part of the group
  • to meet other young people in a fun, safe environment
  • free lunch and dance wear

You don't need any previous dance experience and it's free to take part!

If you'd like to join, just send an email to, the Great Feats youth worker.

About the project
By offering free, positive and accessible dance experiences, we aim to change any negative perceptions young people may have about dance and bring participants from different backgrounds together in a positive manner.

All our services are free of charge and young people from disadvantaged or hard-to-reach areas can access the programme by being referred to us through their key workers or agencies, or by getting in contact themselves.

We work closely with referring agencies to ensure we give the young people the best possible service we can offer. Our work involves eliminating barriers to participation, such as attendance and travel issues, and we provide appropriate dance wear. Offering participants places in our mainstream community dance classes, we also give them the option to become involved in classes of their choice as well as a sense of ownership.

Dance Base Youth Worker, Heather, works closely with our young people to realise these aspirations and to create positive destinations with work, accommodation and further education. We strive to develop and create transferable life skills.

If you'd like any further information, please send an email to to get in touch with the Great Feats youth worker.
