Kirsty Somerville is our new Programmes Manager!

The team at Dance Base is excited to welcome Kirsty Somerville as our new Programmes Manager.

Kirsty started her new role in November and says:

“I am thrilled to be joining Dance Base as the Programmes Manager! Having worked in festivals and artist development for many years I am really excited to take on this dynamic new role and to support Scotland’s incredibly vibrant dance community to devise, develop and stage their work at Scotland’s home of dance.”

Kirsty Somerville is a programme manager and festivals producer with over 10 years’ experience of working in the arts sector. Having begun her career by working at a range of international arts festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Auckland Arts Festival & Christchurch Arts Festival, Kirsty returned to Scotland to work with producing art house Cryptic, coordinating their artist development programme and a range of festivals, installations and performances both in Scotland and abroad. In 2016 she joined Take One Action Film Festivals, the UK’s leading global change film festival, where she coordinated and produced festival events across Scotland alongside a nationwide-tour, and a series of local film clubs. Kirsty is passionate about the power of vibrant and creative storytelling, whether that is through dance, film, theatre or visual art, and is dedicated to helping bring these stories to the stage.
