Oona Doherty wins Total Theatre Award & The Wee Review Award

Hope Hunt & the Ascension into Lazarus

Hope Hunt & The Ascension into Lazarus by Oona Doherty has won the Total Theatre & The Place Award for Dance. The award was presented at the Total Theatre Awards ceremony held at Out of the Blue Drill Hall on Thursday 24 August 2017, and was accepted by producer Una NicEoin on behalf of the artist, and by Bush Hartshorn on behalf of Dance Base.

As a venue, we are incredibly proud to see Oona’s success and send our congratulations to her and all of her team and supporters, including Culture Ireland.

Hope Hunt & The Ascension into Lazarus was one of four #DBFest17 shows nominated for the Total Theatre Awards and we were very proud to attend the ceremony alongside Taiwan Season: Together Alone by Zoltán Vakulya, Chen-Wei Lee x ART B&B, DOLLHOUSE by Bill Coleman and Gordon Monahan, and Snigel and Friends by Caroline Bowditch & Company.

Receiving four nominations for the Total Theatre Awards is an extraordinary acknowledgement of this year’s remarkable festival programme and we are grateful to all of the companies who have made this such an exceptional Fringe.

Hope Hunt & The Ascension into Lazarus has won the Fringe Groundbreaker Award at The Wee Review Awards.

“Oona Doherty is an extraordinary performer, and this show blurs the boundaries between dance, physical theatre and sound poetry in a very unique way.” [Robert Dow]
