**RESCHEDULED TO 10 & 17 NOVEMBER, 10.00-13.00**
Join Dance Base and Associate Artist Farah Saleh for Gesture Exchange - a new creative project that will bring participants from different backgrounds together for a morning of movement, connection and collaboration. These sessions are kindly supported by the Scottish Refugee Council.
In these two interactive sessions, participants from refugee and non-refugee backgrounds will work together with dance artist, Farah Saleh, to explore their shared unique narratives, gestures and embodied knowledge. Through a series of gentle exercises, group tasks and smaller group work, Farah and the participants will then work together to develop these individual daily gestures into a collective movement language that can be used to express and perform together.
The workshops will be delivered through an online video platform where participants can see and interact with each other in a safe and easy way. You will need a device with video and audio recording that can be connected to the internet to take part.
These online sessions are the first part of a larger project that will be delivered in person at Dance Base when we are able to reopen. In our live sessions we will bring participants together and accompany the movement workshop with a shared meal and provide childcare, transport and translation to welcome and support our participants. Full details of this programme will be announced on the Dance Base website when this is possible.
Participants are encouraged to attend both sessions if they can.
