Dance Base Scotland appoints Emma Pirie as Head of Marketing & Development

Emma Pirie

We are excited to welcome Emma Pirie to Dance Base Scotland in the new role of Head of Marketing & Development, starting from Monday 26 April 2021.

Emma has over 15 years’ experience of working in arts and cultural events. She has previously worked in marketing and communications roles for the Traverse Theatre, Glasgow King’s and Theatre Royal, Edinburgh International Film Festival and Comic Relief. Until recently she was Head of Marketing and Communications for Edinburgh Science, the education charity that delivers the Edinburgh Science Festival alongside a learning programme that reaches every local authority in Scotland and a variety of international events including the Abu Dhabi Science Festival.

‘I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the team at Dance Base and can’t wait to get started. The dance sector in Scotland is innovative and inspiring, and incredibly so throughout this last year, when it has responded to the challenges of the global pandemic with dynamism and determination. As we look to rebuild and reimagine our work, connecting with artists and audiences across Scotland, I am excited to be part of an organisation that champions the power of dance to bring people together and celebrate a brighter future.’  – Emma Pirie

Dance Base Chief Executive Jim Hollington welcomed her to the role:
‘We're delighted to welcome Emma Pirie to the Dance Base family. Her wide experience in marketing and fundraising across festivals and the arts will be invaluable not only for Dance Base, but also for the dance sector in Scotland. She'll help us to fulfil our aim to get the whole of Scotland dancing and build national and international success for dance artists based here.’
