Calling dancers aged 18 – 60 (non-professional) to join an exciting multigenerational project

As part of the European Championships 2018, Dance Base are creating Bonnie and her Splashmob, to be performed outdoors around Edinburgh between 6 – 12 August. This fun event supports and promotes the Championships, and specifically the diving events, which will be happening at Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Pool.

Bonnie and her Splashmob will be choreographed by Bridie Gane with costumes by Jeanine Byrne, and features PRIME, (Dance Base’s semi-professional company for dancers over 60) and Lothian Youth Dance Company.

This will be a jolly family-friendly synchronised-swimming-inspired flashmob, involving flippers, flotation aids, goggles, armbands, mermaids, rubber rings, snorkels and inflatable water toys!

We are seeking 9 enthusiastic movers to dive in with us!

Here’s the need to

·         Have at least 2 years’ dance experience in any style

·         Have a sense of fun and enjoy performing

·         Be aged between 18 – 60 years old

·         Be available to rehearse from 9 – 13 July (between 10.00 and 17.00) and to perform on August 6, 10 and 11 (daytime performances).

9 dancers will be selected by choreographer Bridie Gane, Dance Base Artistic Director Morag Deyes, and Participation Manager Allan Irvine. Please send a statement (about half A4) explaining why you would like to be involved in the Splashmob and telling us about your dance experience, to by Wednesday 27 June at 10.00.

If selected you will be invited to audition on Tuesday 3 July, 18.30 – 19.30.

There is no cost to take part in this great opportunity. Your costume, travel to locations and light refreshments on performance days will all be covered by Dance Base.

Bonnie and her Splashmob is part of Festival 2018, the cultural programme for the Glasgow 2018 European Championships
