Australian residency for choreographers

Australian residency for choreographers

The Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub (Australia) and Dance Base (Scotland) are working in partnership to present the Propel Choreographic Residency – a program that offers a professional chorographer from Scotland the opportunity to work in Newcastle, Australia for three weeks.

Propel residents are afforded time and space away from the familiarity of their usual surroundings, providing space, not only for reflection, research and development, but also to encounter entirely new experiences from which to draw creative inspiration.

As a key part of the Propel Program the residency will provide a choreographer the opportunity to utilise a studio space for a period of three weeks to undertake research and development of a dance project.

A flight (of up to $1,500 AU), accommodation and a living away from home allowance (of $1000 AU) will be provided for this residency, along with connectivity to the Company and basic technical support throughout the residency period.

These residencies will also provide invaluable mentoring opportunities, connecting the practitioners with one or two of the Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub Company dancers, and providing exposure to Artistic Director: Cadi McCarthy, to enable and facilitate a sharing of knowledge and creative vison, whilst also fostering reciprocal exchange.

The 2020 residency will run for three weeks with the proposed dates being October/November 2020. These are the preferred dates, but are open to negotiation with the successful applicant, based on studio availability.
