Wake up and gently prepare your body for the day!
We’ll help you move to music and also to the rhythm of our own bodies, listening to what they need.
Starting with breath exercises and broad movements to engage the main muscle groups, the session will move on to raise the heart rate and increase temperature in the body, culminating in stretches and restful poses that set you up for the rest of the day.
The exercises will be grounded in functional movements and use imagery, music and rhythm to engage the mind and connect it to the body. We will build on similar exercises throughout the term to challenge strength and flexibility, but that also tap into the joy of moving. Hopefully, you will leave the studio at the end of the class feeling slightly longer, lighter and energised for the day ahead.
No prior dance experience is required, exercises can be adapted to individual needs.
Teacher Emili has taught dance and movement to all ages since graduating from Rambert School over a decade ago, where she trained in Ballet and Contemporary dance. Her teaching practice is informed by her original love of Contemporary dance as well as a broad curiosity about movement in all its forms and how we live and feel in our bodies.
Please bring your own mat and any of your own props. Some mats and props will be available to borrow, please ensure you use the cleaning products available to sanitize any borrowed props after use.
From Wednesday 15 September drop-in classes will be available to book from 1 week before class.
