This is an energetic, no-frills Beginners class is designed to help you build a strong foundation in essential Flamenco skills and develop understanding of the intricate compas (rhythms) and expression at the heart of this undiluted genre of dance.
With vibrant music to inspire us, we’ll warm up with some simple technique followed by a short but elegant choreography that will be energetic in parts. Let your hair down and expect to leave the class feeling taller, sparkling and uplifted. Discover your inner duende!
Please wear comfortable clothing, and don't forget your water bottle!
If this is your first time taking a Flamenco class, we would recommend that you wear a shoe with a block heel for the first few classes before purchasing a Flamenco dance shoe. Do not hesitate to ask Adela any questions about footwear or the requirement of a flamenco skirt.

Having lived and danced in Seville for most of her life Adela consolidated her understanding of flamenco culture and dance with the Cuadro Flamenco Emilio Salazar and subsequently worked extensively in the Tablaos of Sevilla.
Developing a cross-cultural relationship, Adela combined her Spanish working and cultural life with performances and commissions in Scotland at the Queen’s Hall, Tramway Theatre Carnegie Hall and the Edinburgh Lyceum Theatre Company.
Adela has appeared in numerous films produced by Las Bellas Artes (Madrid), Arganda del Rey Theatre, and Edinburgh Festivals. She has lectured in Flamenco at the University of Sevilla, is currently creating new work alongside sharing her artistry, leading classes at Dance Base in Edinburgh.
