Covid safety information for in-studio classes

Dance Base Scotland is putting several protocols and measures in place to ensure the health and safety of our staff, teachers and participants as we return to in-studio classes.

Booking

All places for each class or workshop must be booked in advance from our website. We will be unable to make any in-person bookings on the day.

Capacity for each class is strictly limited to allow social distancing in our studios to keep all of our participants, teachers and staff safe.

All participants and teachers must provide contact details (phone and email) in advance. This is for contact tracing. This information is stored securely on our Mindbody booking system and is only accessible by relevant staff.

To allow for staggered entry and social distancing in the building between activities, you must adhere to the entry window given (unless agreed with Dance Base in advance).

Entry & Exit

We are operating a staggered entry and exit process for all of our in-building activities. Please ensure you arrive no earlier than 20 minutes before your class/workshop is due to begin. If multiple people are waiting to be signed in, please maintain 2m social distancing while queueing.

If you are running late, please email dance@dancebase.co.uk as soon as possible to let us know when we can expect you, or if you can no longer attend.

Two members of the Dance Base team will be in the building to sign in participants, maintain hygiene standards and in case of emergency.

You must wear a face covering in all shared spaces in the building, including entering and exiting the building. You do not need to wear a face covering while in your designated dance space in the studio.

Getting around the building

Use of the lift is for those with mobility needs only (max 2 people at any one time). If you will require the lift, please notify us in advance of your arrival.

 Toilets & Changing Rooms

Toilets and changing rooms are limited to a maximum of 2 people at a time

If possible, please arrive prepared for class to minimise the use of the changing rooms.

Our lockers are currently out of use, however there will be space within the studio to store your belongings and change your shoes before the class.

Cleaning & Ventilation

Each studio will be mopped and thoroughly cleaned prior to each class beginning and at the end of each day. Dance Base staff will clean frequently used touch points such as door handles throughout the day.

Cleaning materials will be provided in each space for you to use. We recommend that teachers clean surfaces and equipment regularly, and before leaving the studio.

Hand sanitizing points are available throughout the building.

We are required to ensure adequate ventilation in all of our studio spaces. As such, our studios may be colder than usual.

 Physical Activity

As per Government guidance, you are advised to:

  • stay 2 metres (6 feet) away from other people
  • wash your hands well and often
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or bent elbow when coughing or sneezing, and discard used tissue safely
  • wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces. You do not have to wear a face covering while dancing, but may choose to if you wish.

Our space will be colder than normal due to increased ventilation. Please bring additional layers with you to keep warm and make sure you warm up fully to reduce the risk of injury.

Each participant will have a designated taped box space in the studio – this has been measured to maintain adequate distancing between all participants during the class. Please ensure you stay in your own area in the studio.

Please bring your own water to class – we are unable to provide a drinking fountain or sell bottled water at this time.

Dance Base staff are still mostly working from home to limit the number of people present in the building. As such, we are not able to operate a full front desk customer service in building.

Our phone lines will be open between the hours of 12 noon and 5pm on a Tuesday and a Friday. Alternatively, please send any queries to dance@dancebase.co.uk and somebody will get back to you as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

This guidance is as of 21st June 2021 and will remain in place until further updates from the government are issued, which will then supersede this guidance. All users of Dance Base studios will be expected to adhere to current guidance and protocols when in the building.
