Our Aims

Environmental

Dance Base is committed to monitoring and managing its environmental impact, and to continue to actively find ways to reduce our carbon footprint. We are also delighted to be part of the Green Arts Initiative, the interactive community of over 200 Scottish arts and cultural organisations working to improve their environmental performance, run by Creative Carbon Scotland and Festivals Edinburgh.

Here’s some of the things we’re doing to make a difference:

  • Have a proactive Green Team
  • Reduced our print mail out by 90%
  • LED lights have been installed in areas of Dance Base, which operate at just 27% of the previous energy consumption
  • Upgrades to our heating control systems has resulted in our annual gas usage to be cut by an average of 15% in volume
  • Dance Base staff are encouraged to cycle, walk or use city buses when travelling to and from work. Trains are used as the main travel option for travelling within the UK

For more information, please take a read of our Environmental Policy & Actions. This policy applies across each department including Participation, Professional and performances at Dance Base during Edinburgh’s Festival Fringe.
