Samuel Burkett

Residency 19 - 23 June

Samuel Burkett

It's over if he can turn him over

Following on from a previous research period, Sam will continue developing a new work alongside three collaborators, looking at the intersection of the performance of masculinity, the power of the femme, and professional wrestling.

Through the use of text, movement, and imagery, Sam and his collaborators will look at how women can embody the aggression, sexuality, and privilege of hypermasculinity in the context of a professional wrestling match.

The concept for this work was originally developed through Scottish Ballet’s Anserinae Choreographic Mentorship Scheme mentored by Kerry Nicholls.
