Dance Base supports a rolling programme of paid opportunities for dance and movement professionals, including artist residencies, scratch nights, surgeries, and professional development events. Participants are often selected via an open call process and we strive to offer equality of opportunity, regardless of experience or access needs.

Scratch Night Call Out | Autumn 2026

We are now accepting applications for our Autumn Scratch Night delivered in partnership with Project X, taking place Friday 23 October.
Scratch Night is a unique platform in Edinburgh that brings live dance work to audiences and creates a supportive platform for dance and movement artists to try out ideas on the stage.

Dance Base and Scottish Dance Theatre are collaborating to support one Scotland-based independent dance maker to develop their choreographic practice by working with the Scottish Dance Theatre company for one week in January 2027.

Teaching With Dance Base
Are you a professional teacher interested in working with Dance Base?
We run frequent call outs for various opportunities, but we always welcome artists and teachers to get in touch with us if they are interested in joining the Dance Base community. We offer an extensive programme of classes for professionals and the public throughout the year with opportunities for visiting guest teachers and workshops.
