On top of all of the classes and workshops on offer, hands on - Treatment provides a selection of professional complementary health treatments within the Dance Base building.
Treatments include holistic/therapeutic massage, dynamic bodywork and on-site chair massage and are undertaken by highly qualified and professional therapists, with a background in dance.

Therapists
Valeska AndrewsValeska qualified in Edinburgh in 1995 and continues to offer Massage treatments on-site in theatres and dance venues for staff and performers. She also works as a sessional therapist with community health organisations with a focus on mental health and visits primary schools to facilitate peer massage. Valeska is also qualified in On-site Chair Massage, particularly good for workplaces and public spaces, and has learnt techniques from No Hands, Shiatsu and Acupressure. She is interested in EFT and is shortly gaining a certificate in Introductory Counselling Skills. From a background in Athletics and Capoeira, and an interest in other forms of dance, Yoga and Pilates, she is enthusiastic in promoting awareness of the power and holistic benefit of movement and therapeutic touch. She consistently enjoys high calibre feedback regarding her thorough and well-balanced approach and positive results but is never complacent. Most private clients are obtained through word of mouth.
Sue HawksleySue is qualified in Holistic Massage and the Eyerman Technique of Bodywork and Movement and has been practicing as a therapist since 1991. Her distinctive style evolved out of and is informed by her career as a professional dance-artist. Sue has extensive experience as a performer with companies such as Rambert Dance Co., Philippe Genty, Mantis and Scottish Ballet. She is currently based in Edinburgh where she continues to choreograph, teach and perform and is artistic director of articulate animal. She is committed to ongoing professional development, regularly attending courses and conferences to update her skills and knowledge. Research interest is in ‘embodied knowledge’.
