opportunities

opportunitiesDance Base recognises the importance to professional dancers of having the opportunity to perform their work on stage to a live audience. We strive to develop these opportunities for professional dancers in Scotland.

Currently we have the following programme available, in addition to the weekly studio showings of work develop by professional dancers during residences at Dance Base.

Dance Base runs a programme of performances during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, converting Studio 1 into an intimate studio theatre for the occasion. The programme, supported by the Scottish Arts Council presents mainly international artists alongside a selection of Scottish work.

Dance Base also programmes the dance seasons at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh. There are usually two or three dance presentations each season, apart from the Festival. There is a mixture of Scottish work and work by artists from other countries. Where time allows, companies performing at the Traverse usually offer class and/or workshops for professional dancers at Dance Base.
