Tuesday 27 April 2010

This last week has been filled with Mark Morris-ness and why not? I realised when I was waiting for the lights to go down in readiness for his masterpiece L'allegro that I could happily know without doubt that it would be glorious. And it was. He really is a maestro of the choreographic craft, and although there always must be room for experiment and unpredictability in any art form, it was still so nice just to sit back and be enveloped in great dance and music.

OK, homage over.

Sara Watkin, dancer, doctor and general enthuse of life has been part of a conference organised by BAPAM looking at performance, stress and their physical repercussions. See below for more details.

Congratulations to our newly chosen bursary-ettes....enjoy your classes and all that goes with this opportunity. We have some amazing teachers in Scotland, and having this bursary means you can enjoy them. In fact everyone can enjoy them!

You can see our national ballet company, Scottish Ballet in a great production of Romeo and Juliet at the Festival theatre, Edinburgh, from tomorrow and also around Scotland. There’s one of the best ever uses of corps de ballet in the first half.......will you spot it?

Don't miss the showing this week from Laura Hope Steckler who is an original open mind and is making  a welcome return to the studio.

See you soon.
