Hello from a busier than ever Dance Base, erupting with explosive energy…where we have had auditions for bursaries today and realise with a sinking heart that we need three times as much money than we have to fund everyone that attended.

But tis not possible. Yet. Just today, there's been visits from performance artists with sinister plans for the festival, my own class (am I loving teaching again? Oh yes!) our Fringe programme deadline and CEO Katie returning at last from a 16 hour eurobus ride and a standing-room-only, train journey from Kings Cross. Welcome home valiant traveller form IETM in Berlin.

Elsewhere in Caledonia, the magic of the landscape of the unconscious is at work in the Borders. The Tide Machine is revving into action in Dumfries and will be an extraordinary experience. There is actually no doubt about that. Alex Rigg is remarkable. Do try to find out why if you don't already know. See below for less poetic, more practical details!

Lastly a big respectful curtsy to Maxine Railton who is Head of Dance at Anniesland College in Glasgow and has recently been awarded a Prize from Scotland Colleges for, ahem, “Promoting Equality and Diversity in Dance”.  I’ll say. Not only that but she also get's the keys to a new a gorgeous three studio dance space in a few weeks. Maxine is a fabulous teacher, and an inspiring human being. She has deserved these rewards for so long, and it's just great that she's been recognised.
