Great Feats wishes to get young people, who may not otherwise have the opportunity, dancing.
By offering free, positive and accessible dance experiences, we aim to change any negative perceptions young people may have about dance and bring participants from different backgrounds together in a positive manner.
All our services are free of charge and young people from disadvantaged or hard-to-reach areas can access the programme by being referred to us through their key workers or agencies.
We work closely with referring agencies to ensure we give the young people the best possible service we can offer. Our work involves eliminating barriers to participation, such as attendance and travel issues, and we provide appropriate dance wear. Offering participants places in our mainstream community dance classes, we also give them the option to become involved in classes of their choice as well as a sense of ownership.
Dance Base Youth Worker, Heather, works closely with our young people to realise these aspirations and to create positive destinations with work, accommodation and further education. We strive to develop and create transferable life skills.
