The Outreach Department work with children and young people in pre-school, nurseries, primary and secondary schools and youth groups.

Nurseries and pre-school settings

Dance for pre-school children is a positive introduction to creative movement which supports children’s physical, emotional and neurological development. It is also a lot of fun! Classes are organised in partnership with nurseries and Early Years Providers, and takes account of children’s own interests and contextual themes.

Primary and Secondary Schools

Dance can make a valuable contribution to the school curriculum and support pupils’ learning. Dance encourages positive group participation and promotes creative, health choices for young people. Dance also helps to raise levels of self confidence and self esteem. Increased pupil motivation can improve school attendance and classroom behaviour and contributes towards raised levels of pupil achievement.

Youth Groups

The Outreach Programme also works with youth groups supporting young people in a variety of challenging circumstances. Homeless, at risk and excluded young people who, otherwise would have limited opportunity to dance. Working with communities and youth agencies the Youth Outreach Programme supports young people towards positive life choices.
